Fiji Airways confirms bird strike on Christchurch–Nadi flight

Fiji Airways has confirmed that flight FJ450 from Christchurch to Nadi experienced a bird strike shortly after departure.

In a statement it said the aircraft is currently holding safely in the air to burn fuel and achieve the required landing weight.

All guests and crew remain safe on board.

“Our flight and engineering teams are closely monitoring the situation, and the aircraft will land as soon as it is safe to do so,” said Fiji Airways.

“We are assisting all affected guests and will provide updates as they become available.”

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank our guests for their understanding and patience.”

“Safety remains our highest priority.”
