THE Nadi Magistrate’s Court yesterday granted bail to Ana Masere, who faces multiple charges including causing harm by posting electronic communication and indecently annoying a person.
Ms Masere appeared in court charged with allegedly posting a TikTok video that contained disparaging comments about the complainant. It is alleged the complainant then attempted to commit suicide.
The matter was heard before Magistrate Talei Kean. Ms Masere was represented by Amrit Chand while Sergeant Vishal Sharan appeared for the prosecution.
Mr Sharan filed Ms Masere’s amended charges of two counts of causing harm by posting electronic communication, two of indecently annoying a person and one of breaching bail conditions.
Magistrate Kean said Ms Masere’s two sureties would each have to pay $400 if she failed to appear in court or violated her bail conditions.
Mr Chand requested that a stern warning be issued to the complainant who he said had been defaming Ms Masere on social media. He also said this could instigate issues in the case.
Magistrate Kean adjourned the matter to December 4 for plea.
