With the highly anticipated 2025 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) just hours away, all eyes are on the football town of Ba, where Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf predicts a carnival atmosphere as the tournament kicks off tomorrow.
After a 10-year hiatus, the Championship is set to make its return to 4R Stadium, Govind Park in Ba, sparking excitement among fans and supporters who are gearing up for a week filled with thrilling football matches.
Yusuf is confident that all preparations have been made, and the stage is set for an exciting tournament.
“All is set and ready to go, a lot of tickets have been sold, we will be expecting a lot of crowds at the grounds on Tuesday,” said Yusuf.
“It will surely be a carnival atmosphere in the football town of Ba as a tournament returning there after nine years.”
Yusuf mentioned the tournament program has been carefully designed to include special night fixtures, catering to fans who may be unable to attend daytime matches due to work commitments.
To accommodate working fans, two-night matches with kick-off times at 6pm and 8pm have been scheduled, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the action on the field.
He adds the recent 90th Anniversary celebration of Ba FC saw hundreds of people coming together, reflecting the strong support and enthusiasm surrounding football in Ba.
“Ba FC had their 90th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, which draw a hundreds of people together, so things are looking good in Ba and with the people of Ba.”
For those still looking to secure tickets, Yusuf advises arriving early to avoid long queues at the ticket counters.
The official opening by the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Biman Prasad is scheduled for 5pm, adding to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the tournament.
The tournament will kick off with a match between Rewa and Nadroga in the Super Premier Division at 1:30pm tomorrow.
Followed by exciting fixtures including defending champions Labasa facing off against Nadi at 3:30pm, Lautoka taking on Suva at 6pm, and hosts Ba going head-to-head against Navua at 8pm.
