He was amongst twelve people, including two juveniles, who were charged with serious sexual offences last month, according to data released by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
The charges, filed in the High Courts of Fiji, involved 12 counts of sexual offences against eight victims, two of whom were minors.
The ODPP stated that three of the incidents involved domestic relationships between the accused and the victims.
In another case, a 27-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 28-year-old de facto partner, as well as wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation, and assault causing actual bodily harm.
A third case involving a 35-year-old man, who was charged with the rape and assault of his 26-year-old de facto partner, was discontinued after authorities were unable to contact or locate the victim.
The ODPP clarified that offences such as assault and intimidation are recorded separately from the primary sexual offence charges.
The data reflects only formal indictments (Information) filed in the High Court and is limited to serious sexual offences.
