A 25-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his 3-year-old child, following a police investigation into the toddler’s death at their home in Lomolomo, Lautoka last week.
The case was initially reported to the Lautoka Police Station as a domestic accident, with claims that the child had sustained serious injuries after a fall.
However, further investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) revealed that the injuries were allegedly the result of physical assault inflicted by the accused.
The man was formally charged with one count of murder and one count of assault causing actual bodily harm.
He appeared at the Lautoka Magistrates Court on Monday, 29 September 2025.
He has since been remanded in custody, and the matter has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court, where it will be called again on 13 October 2025.
