Suva’s Buckhurst Grounds turned into a sea of sound and light on Saturday as the first-ever Heineken Wan Fire Music Festival thundered from midday well into the night.
Thousands poured in from around Fiji and overseas for a high-voltage mash-up of island beats, reggae, pop, and hip-hop, a line-up many fans described as an unforgettable “musical banquet”.
Headliner Stan Walker’s debut Fiji performance lit up the stage with soaring vocals and heartfelt hits, while Pacific favourites Onetox, Kali Tui, InsideOut, and The Gang kept the tempo driving with back-to-back crowd-pleasers.
Even as heavy rain fell in the evening, the audience danced and sang.
The festival demonstrated how music can bring people together.
When the last note faded, the crowd’s chant was already clear: “Bring it back next year”.
