A generator malfunction led to a temporary power outage at Navua Hospital last Saturday, according to Assistant Health Minister Penioni Ravunawa.
He said the disruption occurred in the evening and was swiftly addressed by the technical team from Electricity Fiji Ltd.
“The power was fully restored by 1am on Sunday,” said Mr Ravunawa.
He said all patients remained safe during the outage and no medical incidents were recorded.
“We commend the quick response of the EFL team, whose efforts ensured that critical services were not compromised.”
He said the sole deceased body in the hospital morgue was transferred to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital during the outage, with the full knowledge and consent of the family.
“Navua Hospital continues to operate normally, with two patients currently in the Emergency Department, one in the Maternity Ward, and three receiving care in the Minor Operating Theatre.
He said all were reported to be in stable condition and under appropriate medical supervision.
