THE family of Fijian national Francis Wilson has called on Australian authorities to ensure justice is served for the 20-year-old.

Mr Wilson is without a part of his skull after it was removed by doctors for operation following a pub brawl in Sydney last Sunday.

Australian news outlet, News.com.au reported that 20-year-old Francis Wilson has been left in a critical condition after being beaten up by three individuals who have all been charged.

Speaking to The Fiji Times yesterday from Taveuni, his uncle Keleto Vodo said they were surprised when they heard the news that Francis was hospitalised.

“We were aware that he had taken another Fijian national sightseeing around Sydney that night,” Mr Vodo said.

“It was the next morning when we were told that he has been hospitalised after being severely injured in the City.”

He said that Francis comes from a family of seven children whose mother had passed away.

He said Francis moved to Australia in 2022 through the National Employment Centre Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme.

“We’re really devastated that this happened,” Mr Koto said.

“Luckily, he has another sibling there and they’re helping him with the expenses and all that.

“We know that a GoFundMe campaign has been opened but we are not entirely sure of how much was needed for his medical expenses and all that because we live all the way here in Taveuni.”

Mr Vodo said like any other family, they hoped that justice would be served for Francis.

“He’s been with us since he was a kid and he’s a really good boy.

“I hope that justice will be served for Francis.”
