Chinese, local nationals remanded in meth seizure case

Eight individuals comprising Chinese and local nationals alleged to be connected to the discovery of methamphetamine during a series of raids in the Central division, are further remanded in custody.

In the Flagstaff raid, Josua Ravula and Yin Qing Qing appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza, jointly charged with a count of unlawful Possession of Illicit Drugs and a count of Possession of Property Suspected of Being Proceeds of Crime.

In the first Rewa Street raid, Yu Yang Fang, Minghui Dai, and Zhou Lan appeared before Magistrate Vinaina Diroiroi, where they were jointly charged with a count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and one of possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime.

In the second Rewa Street raid, Logamaisino Baules, Penisasi Delai, and Ginna Choi appeared before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad, facing a count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

Mr Baules is also charged with a count of being a prohibited immigrant, and Ms Choi faces an additional charge of possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime.

The charges follow coordinated operations involving the Fiji Police Force’s Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), Detector Dog Unit, Mobile Force, and Immigration Department, with formal charges laid after consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
