FIJI’s young gymnastics sensation, Lauren Pilla, has made waves at the 2025 National Clubs Carnival in Gold Coast, delivering an impressive performance in her debut as a Youth International athlete.

Competing in the Youth International Individual Women’s Category, Lauren scored 14.616, placing 11th overall a proud moment for Team Fiji and a testament to her talent and dedication.

What makes Lauren’s achievement even more remarkable is the limited preparation time she had.

Unlike other competitors who had a full year to refine their routines, Lauren trained intensely for just three months before stepping onto the international stage.

This milestone performance not only showcased her skills but also served as an important preparation for next year’s Suzuki World Cup.

Lauren’s journey has been guided by a strong support network.

She trains under Coach Josiemaraya Ryland of AeroGym Fiji and has also received valuable guidance from Australian coaches Deborah Greenbaum and Mercedes McIntyre.

Her family has been equally supportive, sharing in the excitement of her achievements and encouraging her every step of the way.

Maria Alvarado, Board of Director of Gymnastics Federation Fiji, praised Lauren’s performance, noting the dedication and discipline required to reach such a level at a young age.

“Lauren’s achievement is a proud moment for Fiji gymnastics. Her perseverance and commitment at just 11 years old are truly inspiring,” she said.

Lauren, an 11-year-old student at Nehru Memorial Primary School in Suva, has always had a flair for movement and creativity.

Her journey into gymnastics began in 2023 when her mother spotted an advertisement for AeroGym Fiji on Facebook and reached out to Coach Ryland.

Since then, Lauren has steadily progressed, finding joy in mastering new skills and performing routines that highlight both precision and artistry.

Outside the gym, Lauren enjoys reading, listening to music, and experimenting with makeup.

Known for her creativity and expressiveness, she thrives in a supportive team environment and is highly motivated by her progress and achievements.

Lauren’s story is one of perseverance, talent, and international collaboration, and her early success promises a bright future for Fiji gymnastics.

As she continues to train and prepare for future competitions, including the Suzuki World Cup, the nation will be watching closely, cheering for this young gymnast who is making her mark on the world stage.
