STAFF of the Fiji Ports Terminal Limited (FPTL) took to the shores of Lomolomo beach yesterday to participate in the International Coastal Clean-up Day.
By protecting coastal ecosystems, conserving beaches, mitigating climate change impacts, and supporting community resilience, FPTL continues to stand at the forefront of positive environmental action.
FPTL Human Resources officer Nirshad Akim said 48 staff in total participated in the clean-up.
“This year’s clean-up follows a series of impactful environmental projects supported by FPTL,” he said.
“On September 6, our Suva team has successfully planted 10,000 mangroves at My Suva Park, which makes up to 20,000 which we planted in Nananu village.
“FPTL has contributed a total of 20,000 mangroves, reinforcing our long-term commitment to environment and sustainability.”
Mr Akim said these initiatives reflected more than just corporate responsibility for FPTL.
“They are part of our mission to safeguard our Fiji’s natural heritage.
“We also encourage the public to take more responsibility in preserving our environment.
“Every small action and beaches remain clean and vibrant for future generations.”
