NADI’s economic gain is set to further increase from next year’s UB40 Concert, says Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry interim president Lawrence Kumar.
“With the Homecoming Festival, we saw a huge boost to our economy and obviously this had a rippling effect not only to our businesses in Nadi but to the rest of the country as well,” Mr Kumar said.
“Now that talks have begun with the organisers of the UB40 with the Nadi Town Council to use their facilities for their concert in January next year we are excited about what that would mean for our businesses.
“It could have a similar impact that Homecoming had.”
Mr Kumar said apart from the obvious sectors like tourism that had a huge gain from the three-day festival, other sectors and micro businesses had gained so much from those three days.
“We had the food and beverage sector.
“Our street food sellers and then we had micro businesses who were making T-shirts and hats for each day of the concert.
“Now we could be having a UB40 concert, there is so much potential for Fijian- owned businesses.”
The UB40 concert featuring Ali Campbell slated for January 2026, will mark the return of the beloved British reggae band to Fiji after more than 20 years.
