The Government is committed to creating the right environment for agro-tourism to thrive.

Tourism Minister Viliame Gavoka made this remark while officiating at the National Agriculture Show in Nadi this week.

Mr Gavoka said this included:

l Strengthening linkages between farmers and tourism operators;

l Supporting cooperatives and agri-businesses to scale up;

l Promoting sustainable farming and eco-tourism models;

l Encouraging investment in rural tourism enterprises; and

l Ensuring that policies align with our vision for resilience and sustainability.

He encouraged stakeholders to picture a Fiji where agriculture and tourism walked side by side.

“Where every visitor gets to taste the richness of our soil.

“And where every farmer sees the pride of their work reflected in the pride of our nation.

“The opportunities in front of us — they are immense.

“But to seize them, we’ve got to work together.

“Farmers and hoteliers. Chefs and policymakers. Communities, families, young people — all of us pulling in the same direction.

“That means showing resilience. It means being smart about how we produce. It means backing local. And it means growing agro-tourism not just as a theme for this year’s show, but as a principle we live by, and as a foundation for the future we want.”
