The Fiji Police Force has intensified its efforts to curb online abuse, with two self-employed individuals currently in custody for allegedly posting harmful and obscene content on social media.
A 26-year-old man from Kulukulu, Sigatoka, is being investigated for allegedly sharing an intimate image of a victim through a social media platform.
Police say the man attempted to extort money from the victim after distributing her nude photo.
In a separate case, a 40-year-old woman from Nadi was arrested for allegedly causing harm by posting electronic communication. It is alleged that she went live on social media and indecently abused a woman and her daughter during the broadcast.
Both individuals are being investigated by the Fiji Police Force’s Cybercrime Unit.
