Navosa produced a powerful performance to defeat Namosi 38-15 in round two of the Vodafone Cup at Lawaqa Park Ground One yesterday.
Backed by their home crowd, Navosa started strongly in the first half, crossing for three tries through Nemani Naulago, fly-half Etuate Qalibau, and Semi Nawaliko.
Qalibau converted two of them to give the hosts a commanding 19-5 lead at the break.
Namosi’s only response came from winger Alekisio Matai, who dotted down late in the half.
Navosa kept their momentum in the second spell, maintaining intensity and finishing with another three tries.
Vuniasi Bobo, Semi Kunatani, and Nacanieli Liolevu all got on the scoresheet, with Qalibau adding two more conversions.
Namosi struggled to match Navosa’s pace and structure, managing only two second-half tries through Tobia Matavutuka and captain Kelepi Naimasi.
At full-time, Navosa sealed a well-earned 38-15 victory, sending a strong message early in the competition.
Head coach David Dakuitoga said the result was a huge relief given the team’s financial struggles and limited preparation.
“Praises to Almighty God, the feeling is unreal,” he said.
“Knowing what we came from financially, we didn’t prep well, so this win means a lot.”
