Weekly matches planned for two months

THE Lautoka Men’s and Mixed Netball Association (LMMNA) will officially open its 2025 season on September 27 at the Lautoka’s multipurpose court.

Association secretary Thomas Hicks confirmed that six clubs have already shown interest and will field teams in both the men’s and mixed grades.

“Right now, we have at least 6 clubs that have showed interest. These six clubs will form teams comprising of the Men’s and Mixed grades respectively. After the opening on the 27th, we will run weekly competitions for at least 2 months,” Hicks said.

He explained that the association’s objectives are to promote men’s and mixed netball, ensure inclusivity, and help players develop their skills.

“Our objective revolve around promoting the game ensuring inclusivity and developing players skills. Promote men’s and mix and provide platform for players of all skill levels to engage, improve and enjoy the sport.”

Formed in 2003 with just over 150 members, LMMNA has grown to become one of the largest men’s and mixed netball associations in Fiji.

Hicks also acknowledged the contribution of former players, particularly those now based in the United States, who continue to assist with sponsorship.

Friendly matches will be played today and next week at the multipurpose court in preparation for the season opener.
