Goalkeeper Kitione Baleiloa has been named captain of the Fiji men’s futsal team ahead of the OFC Futsal Men’s Cup 2025.

Baleiloa’s selection to the role was made by head coach José Gerardo during the team naming ceremony at the Fiji FA Headquarters in Vatuwaqa, Suva last night.

“First of all, I just want to thank the Lord Almighty for His protection on my life, to my soccer career,” Baleiloa said last night.

“There is not only one captain, everyone is a captain.”

Meanwhile, head coach Gerardo highlighted how honoured he was to take up the role of coaching the squad.

“It is a real pleasure and an honour to be their coach, because they are the real players here,” he said.

“Working as a team means knowing how to fight together for a goal.”

Fiji’s first match is against Vanuatu this Saturday at 7pm at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
