The NEWWORLD IGA Ba Women’s rugby side beat Navosa in a bonus 29-20 victory in the Ranadi Cup at Lawaqa Park yesterday.

Ba started strongly and took a slim 12-10 lead into halftime.

In the second spell, they lifted their intensity through powerful forward play and smart attacking phases, while Navosa fought bravely to keep themselves in the contest.

Ba’s standout player, Vitorina Veikoso, proved to be the difference as she crossed twice in the second half to seal the win for her side.

Despite the loss, Navosa Women showed grit and determination. Their president, Levi Nayacalevu, said the team is in a rebuilding phase after losing several senior players to Kadavu.

“We are developing our women in Navosa again after most members of the squad have left for Kadavu. Most of our team are young some are school dropouts, while others are still in school at Nasikawa Vision College and Ratu Latianara College,” Nayacalevu said.

He added that the players have been training daily at the Nasikawa Vision College grounds and that the team is grateful to be competing this season.

“It was a good game against Ba, very tough, but we are happy with the performance,” he added.

Ba’s win secures valuable bonus point as they continue to build momentum in the competition.
