Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad has made it clear that the Coalition Government is for every Fijian.
He told those present at the Milad-Un-Nabi, part of Prophet Mohammad’s birthday celebration in Lautoka yesterday that when Government came into office more than two and a half years ago, some people were worried.
“There were rumours about whether every Fijian – Muslims, Hindus, Christians, iTaukei, and our minoroties – would be treated equally.
“Let me say this clearly: this Government is for every Fijian. We care about your safety, your well-being, and your future, no matter who you are. You have nothing to fear.”
Prof Prasad said since taking office, they’ve worked hard to make Fiji stronger.
“We’ve restored democracy, so everyone can speak freely and hold leaders accountable.
“We’ve passed three budgets with tough but necessary changes – strengthening taxes, expanding scholarships, and improving social programs so every family feels the benefits of growth.
“Last year, our economy grew by 4 per cent, and we’re on track to do it again. Businesses are investing in Fiji – tourism is booming, new buildings are going up, jobs are being created, and income levels are increasing.
“But it’s not just about money. We’re building a new regional hospital, a 100-bed super-specialty hospital, and upgrading clinics across the country. We’re fixing roads, improving schools, and making sure every Fijian has a chance to thrive.”
