POLICE are investigating the death of a woman, whose body was found inside the bedroom of her house in Nakasi, Nausori yesterday.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed the death however, details remained sketchy.
It is understood that the victim and her husband are civil servants and employed at the same department.
When a team from this newspaper visited the scene yesterday, a stench emitted from the police truck that carried the body of the woman to the hospital mortuary.
Residents of Nacuva Rd described the couple as quiet people who always kept to themselves.
Two people this newspaper spoke to said the deceased and her husband were both employed in a law enforcement organisation and of iTaukei descent, in their mid 30s and had moved into the area earlier this year.
“We didn’t see any fighting,” remarked a resident who has been living in the neighbourhood for 40 years. “We only realised something may have occurred when the police arrived today (yesterday).”
However, a woman who has lived nearby for 20 years noted that the lights had been off for about two days leading up to the discovery.
“Earlier this week, I saw the lights were out, which was unusual because they would typically be on. This morning (Thursday), when I was picked up, the lights remained off, but I didn’t give it much thought, assuming they must have returned home late from work.”
She mention that the only time she would see them was when they walked to the main road to catch company transport.
