Vanua Levu is set to receive its first prosthetic limb centre, a major community project that will begin construction once funds are collected from this year’s Festival of the Friendly North.

The week-long carnival began on Saturday and aims to raise money for the much-needed facility.

This follows the success of previous projects funded by the festival, including the Northern Dialysis Centre, youth and talent development programs, and public amenities that continue to benefit Labasa residents.

This year, seven contestants are competing in the Queen category and three in the King category, adding excitement and colour to the annual event.
