A man who faced allegations of careless driving is now a free man.

This was after the state filed a “sanction to withdraw a complaint” against Bhavik Verma Singh before Magistrate Vinaina Diroiroi at the Suva Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) had charged Mr Singh with a count of careless driving allegedly committed on November 13, 2024.

LTA alleged Mr Singh drove his vehicle without due care and attention, putting a girl on his lap and driving the car on a public road.

However, the state, pursuant to section 169 (2) (b) (ii) of the Criminal Procedure Act, 2009, intends to continue the proceedings against Mr Singh, who is represented by Suva lawyer Mohammed Saneem.

Mr Singh is discharged pursuant to section 169 (2) (b) (ii) of the Criminal Procedure Act 2009.

Now that the case is closed, Mr Singh conveyed his appreciation to his father, who had consistently supported him, as well as to his lawyer, Mr Saneem, outside the courthouse.
