THE Coastal Rentals Nadi Airport Golf Open teed off successfully yesterday at the Nadi Airport Golf Club, attracting one of its largest fields in recent years.
The three-day tournament, which began with a juniors’ competition on Friday, wraps up later today.
Tournament coordinator and Nadi Airport Golf Club secretary Heather Atu said interest has grown steadily, with more than 100 golfers taking part this year.
“We host this event annually and this time we have over 100 starters. The course is a nine-hole layout, but we play it in two lots, and the competition has been very good.
“We’ve had golfers from Suva, Natadola, Denarau, Lautoka, and Ba. We kept the ladies together and the A-graders together to ensure competitive balance. This year has been very successful with more participants than previous years, and we hope to make it bigger and better going forward,” Atu said.
The tournament is backed by co-sponsors Swire Shipping and Fiji Link, while players also enjoyed special hospitality off the greens. Bakels Fiji provided finger foods, lunch, and desserts to keep the golfers energized.
The final round continues today with the winners to be crowned later in the afternoon.
