Aporosa Davelevu, a driver and co-accused in Fiji’s largest drug bust, has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment and will be eligible for parole after 12 years in prison

He was convicted on several charges related to the importation and possession of 4.15 tonnes of methamphetamine.

The Lautoka High Court found Davelevu guilty of unlawful possession of illicit drugs for his role in transporting the consignment.

During the trial, Davelevu testified that he was asked by Justin Ho to drive a truck from Denarau to a warehouse and was paid $200 for the job.

He claimed he was not aware that the truck was loaded with methamphetamine, believing he was moving furniture.

However, the prosecution presented evidence, including CCTV footage, that placed him at the scene and directly involved in the logistics of the drug movement.

His testimony was also challenged when a state witness, who was granted immunity, identified Davelevu as one of the individuals who helped move the drug-filled containers.
