The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has honoured one of the country’s most colourful and passionate football supporters, Mohammed Izaz Janif, with the presentation of a prestigious Gold Card.

The award, which grants him free entry to all Fiji FA-sanctioned events nationwide, recognises Janif’s lifelong loyalty to the sport and his unwavering support for Labasa FC.

Originally from Bocalevu, Janif is a familiar face at Subrail Park, where his infectious laughter and spontaneous matchday antics have made him a favourite among fans, players and officials alike.

During the 2025 Extra Battle of the Giants in Labasa, Janif’s presence became one of the defining features of the tournament. His unique style of commentary and trademark laughter captured the attention of crowds and quickly spread across social media platforms.

At the height of the tournament, Janif coined his now-famous line, “88 minutes, 99 seconds,” a quirky catchphrase that went viral and cemented his place as a cultural symbol of Labasa football. Spectators flocked to him for photos and videos, with his natural charisma elevating the atmosphere inside the ground.

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said the honour was a fitting acknowledgment of Janif’s contribution to football culture. “Izaz represents the heart of Fijian football. His passion brings joy to the game and unites people in the stands,” Patel said.

For Janif, being recognised by Fiji FA is more than a personal honour, it reflects the pride he carries as an ambassador of Labasa football.
