POLICE officers will need to work 12-hour shifts in the coming months because of the lack of manpower on the ground.
This was raised by acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Kasiano Vusonilawe, in an interview with this newspaper.
He said the force was emphasising community policing, which included improving customer service and speeding up the investigation process.
“In October and November, due to manpower challenges, the force will reinforce ground-level staffing as part of its current strategic focus,” he said.
He said officers were being trained to handle internal issues and enforce discipline.
One such training program ended last week.
“We aim to clean up internal practices so we can better serve the public.”
