Tonga opened their Pacific Nations Cup campaign with a 30-16 win over Samoa last Saturday and their victory has compelled their opponents this week, the FIJI Water Flying Fijians, to up the ante.
Head coach Mick Byrne said Tonga’s performance around the ruck was an area the team had been working on and the confirmation of what they had expected.
Byrne, who was a speaker at the FRU Symposium at Albert Park in Suva, which began in Suva, spoke of the Ikale Tahi’s performance at the sidelines of the event.
“We talked about it last week, what we expect from Tonga, and they brought exactly that,” Byrne said.
Meanwhile, this is the Flying Fijians first assignment in the PNC, as last week being a bye week has been noted to be an advantage for the team to refine their preparations ahead of the match.
The match kicks off at 3.30pm this Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
