It was 90 per cent of hard work and 10 per cent for display.

Those sentiments are what Ratu Vidika Kuriyalavou, the head coach of the Ratu Latianara College’s under-16 Raluve team, used to describe their 12-10 win over Sigatoka Methodist College to clinch the winning shield.

For head coach Kuriyalavou, he mentioned in an earlier interview with Times Sports how the team needed to head back to the drawing board following their 12-10 semi-final win over Adi Cakobau School.

When asked what were some things that aided in their improvement of blunders observed, he said the hard work done in training showed itself on the field.

“We strongly believe that 90 per cent of the job is done during the week, the 10 per cent is here. This is just a display,” Kuriyalavou shared.

“We knew, myself as a coach, I came in, we came in (and) we knew that we were going to take the trophy home.”

“And I’m really glad for the girls, they stuck together, they did the job and all glory and honour goes back to the Lord Almighty.”

Meanwhile, Ratu Latianara College came in as underdogs in the final, facing the defending champions in what was expected to be a David and Goliath battle.

During the match, the flow of play varied as action drifted from one end of the field to the other and both teams not wanting to hand away possession easily.

At the dying minutes of the match, a try by RLC’s Nanise Donumaitoga flipped the status quo away from the defending champions.

As they returned to Korovisilou in Serua after the win, they also walked away with $3000 in prize money.
