Finance Minister Biman Prasad has commended the Air Terminal Services’s financial and operational performance, highlighting the company’s recent achievements.

At the opening of the new Air Terminal Services Employees Trust (ATSET) building in Lautoka this week, Mr Prasad said ATS had shown operational strength.

“In 2024, it achieved 98.9 per cent on-time performance, managed nearly 9000 flights, and produced more than 2 million in-flight meals,” he said, adding that the company’s financial turnaround was equally impressive.

“From heavy losses in 2020-2021 to profits of $11m in 2022 and $16m in 2023, this was possible because of strong leadership, sound management, and the dedication of ATS workers.”

Mr Prasad said ATS directly supported 800 jobs and provided dividends to the Government for national development.

“Many staff have been with the company for decades, and their loyalty, institutional knowledge, and commitment have been vital to ATS’ success.”

Mr Prasad said the new building symbolised more than just a physical structure.

“It shows how employee ownership can create long-term security, how workers can shape their own future, and how partnerships between Government, employees, trade union leaders can produce harmonious, productive industrial relations, workplace relations environment in this country.”
