ADI Cakobau School may have exited the Fiji Secondary School Football Championship after a narrow 1-0 loss to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School yesterday but their debut campaign has left a strong impression.

For a school best known for its dominance on the athletics tracks, stepping into football’s biggest stage was a bold move and one that coach Areshma Prasad says will only inspire more growth.

“This is the first time for ACS to play in the IDC, and it was a good experience for our girls. We thank our principal for giving us the okay to come and participate,” Prasad said.

Despite being newcomers, the girls showed flair and determination, holding their own against established football schools and producing scorelines that surprised many.

“The girls are all brilliant football talents.

“They did well, and for first timers, the results were very encouraging,” Prasad added.

While their journey ended at the pool stage, ACS leaves with pride intact and valuable lessons gained. For the players, the tournament was more than just about results, it was about opening a new chapter for ACS in football and proving that they can compete across more sporting codes.

“With this foundation laid, the girls from Sawani will look to build further, ensuring that this first step into the football arena is only the beginning.”
