Education Minister Aseri Radrodro apologised to more than 700 members of the Fiji Head Teachers Association for not addressing some of their concerns.
While opening the 42nd FHTA Conference in Denarau yesterday, Mr Radrodro acknowledged there were still ongoing issues that needed to be addressed.
“”I would like to apologise on behalf of the Ministry of Education if we have in anyway failed on our part to fully satisfy your expectations…” Mr Radrodro said.
“And if we failed to satisfy the demands and requests that you may have rendered to the office and those that has not been resolved in time.
“We sincerely apologise.”
Following this Mr Radrodro then reminded the heads of schools of their roles.
“As heads of schools, you are the implementers of these national priorities. Policies and resources will only achieve impact when your leadership turns them into action at the school level.
“We acknowledge the many challenges our ministry faces; overcrowded classrooms, infrastructure gaps, limited resources, and rising community expectations.
“But leadership is defined by turning obstacles into opportunities.”
He said funding support has been provided for the head teachers to implement the ministry’s policies set out for the next financial year.
