A man accused of injuring another on Suva’s Terry Walk last year has sought an early mention date, given he has been remanded for a year.
Sireli Cava, 53, made the request before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere in the High Court in Suva on August 14.
Mr Cava is charged with acting with intent to cause grievous harm.
It is alleged that Mr Cava seized a knife from a nearby shop and proceeded to inflict injuries upon the victim on April 16 last year.
Justice Waleen George was not in court so all matters listed before her were called before Justice Tuiqereqere.
While the judge was adjourning the matter for August 28, Mr Cava said that since being remanded for 17 months, a short mention date was needed.
Justice Tuiqereqere then adjourned the matter to August 21.
