A life Insurance Corporation of India (LICI) sales agent has urged the FNPF to amend its laws to allow members to rejoin.

Vinod Kumar told the FNPF 2011 Act review committee last week that he withdrew his money after reaching the age of 55.

The Lautoka resident, who is now 67, is still in full-time employment with LICI as a sales agent and insurance adviser.

“I fully withdrew when I reached 55, but I was allowed to rejoin. My deductions and contributions were going from LICI.

“However, due to some reason, and from the effect of COVID-19, we were not aware of what was going to happen, and I was a bit worried.

“So, I had withdrawn for the second time, and, unfortunately, could not rejoin.”

Mr Kumar claimed the existing law did not allow individuals to join again after two withdrawals.

“Because of this, I am losing the employer contribution, which now stands at 10 per cent, which is quite significant.

“As I said, I am one of the top sales agents, and I cannot reveal my earnings, but it is quite significant.”

Mr Kumar said his employer was willing to deduct his FNPF contributions should FNPF allow it.

“If FNPF could amend its law to accommodate my request so that I can rejoin.”

FNPF board director Sikeli Tuinamuana acknowledged Mr Kumar’s submission, saying they would take note of it.
