While Tailevu’s 13-24 loss to Ba in last week’s Skipper Cup clash may have shifted the status quo for them, president Joseph Rodan says the loss is an opportunity to take stock.
In a media release by the Tailevu Rugby Football Union, Rodan elaborated on what the loss meant at a greater and far-reaching level.
“Losing to Ba Rugby is a great lesson because it allows us to take stock of ourselves,” Rodan said.
“It gives us the chance to learn from our weaknesses, strengthen our areas of advantage, and identify opportunities that will help us grow as a team.”
“Losses can be difficult, but they are also powerful reminders that growth is a process.”
In the Skipper Cup’s recent three rounds of competition, Tailevu has won two out of three so far.
In round one, they beat Vatukoula 12-9 and in round two, they beat defending champions of the Inkk Farebrother Trophy, Naitasiri, 27-22.
All of their matches have taken place close to their home turf, the Burebasaga District School ground in Rewa.
With six games to go in the competition, Rodan said the union was on a course.
“I have full confidence in the capability of our managers, coaches and players. Their knowledge, discipline and commitment are key to driving this team forward.
“With the right strategies in place, I believe we will continue to grow into a formidable team and perform beyond expectations for the rest of the season.”
Meanwhile, with the competition on a break, Tailevu will face Malolo on Malolo Island on Saturday, September 6.
