PONSONBY Muslimah Ferns Club from New Zealand claimed top honors in the netball competition at the 2025 FANCA International Club Championships, showcasing their strength against 11 other participating teams.

The Auckland-based side topped the 12-team contest, which Yusuf said had reached “better standards” this year compared to previous tournaments.

“We had strong participation across the Legends, Masters, Youth, and Premier divisions, and New Zealand came in with a bigger contingent than before.

“Ponsonby’s win in the netball competition,” Yusuf said.

Yusuf added that the netball competition continues to grow as an integral part of FANCA, providing opportunities not only for football but also for women and youth athletes to compete at a high level.

“This year we have seen improvement in the standard of play, and that is encouraging for the growth of the competition,” he said.

The inclusion of multiple categories alongside the international flavour from overseas teams ensured the five-day championships remained one of the most vibrant community sporting festivals in Fiji.
