Olympic silver-medalist Joji Nasova has been called into the FIJI Water Flying Fijians squad for the 2025 Pacific Nations Cup.
The Ba man replaces star backline player Semi Radradra who has been ruled out of the PNC campaign, after sustaining an injury during club training.
Head coach Mick Byrne is excited to see Nasova perform at the global stage in the 15s code.
Following the 2024 Olympic Games, Nasova had signed with the Swire Fijian Fijian Drua and is set to get a feel of Super Rugby Pacific next season.
Despite Radradra’s absence, Byrne remains confident in the depth of the national squad.
“Semi is a world-class player, and his presence will be missed.
“However, we’ve selected this PNC squad based on performance, and I believe these young men will rise to the occasion when the pressure is on,” he said.
The PNC will run from August 22 to September 20.
Fiji will face Tonga on August 30, 3pm at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
They will play Samoa a week later, on September 6 at Rotorua International Stadium in New Zealand.
