Fulton Adventist University College hopes to be granted full university accreditation by the Fiji Higher Education Commission soon.

While welcoming Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad to the college in Sabeto on Thursday, principal Dr Ronald Stone said they would hand over their application on August 18.

“We are on the cusp of an exciting new chapter as we prepare to submit our appeal for a fully-fledged university status to the Higher Education Commission of Fiji next Monday,” Dr Stone said.

“We anticipate the inauguration of our university status on this appeal on September 9, a day that will mark a transformative step for our institution.”

Acknowledging the Government’s support Dr Stone said they were looking forward to securing the new accreditation.

In response, Prof Prasad said Government would look into increasing support for the college as it aims to achieve university status, and that it had received funding from the Government for more than 20 years.

“Since 2014, Fulton College has received $1.43 million in government grants to assist its operations,” he said.

“The Government has implemented policies to enhance education, including writing off student debt and introducing merit-based scholarships.

“The Government will work closely with the Fulton College Council and management to increase support for the college.”

Prof Prasad urged the college to continue reviewing and refining its curriculum to deliver comprehensive programs.
