The 2025 Hibiscus Festival will be held from 20th to the 27th of next month.

Suva City Council Chief Executive and the Hibiscus Festival Committee chair Tevita Boseiwaqa said the festival was postponed after considering a number of factors.

“We listened to the communities, we listened to the business people, and we listened to the nature, the weather,” Mr Boseiwaqa said.
“One of the factors is the weather.

“We were questioned after the Hibiscus last year, why continue to have Hibiscus this time, when it’s rainy season.

“Which one is more important? Our safety, or the school break.”

He said after the consultation with the meteorological office, they decided to hold Hibiscus festival in September.

“If we look at the weather for the next two weeks, it’s going to rain.”

“If we continue having this Hibiscus determined by the school break, we are bound to be facing, or going through heavy rainfall.”
