Heavy rain and strong winds alert issued for parts of Fiji

The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi states a heavy rain alert remains in force for parts of Fiji and a strong wind warning is now also in force Yasawa, Mamanuca, northern, western, and southern coastal Viti Levu, Kadavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti.

Fiji Met states an active trough west of Fiji is drifting closer, bringing cloud, rain, and winds from later today through Saturday.

Forecast predicts occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms for affected areas, with winds reaching 45 km/hr and gusts up to 55 km/hr, causing rough seas.

Flash flooding is possible in low-lying areas.
