The Coalition Government remains fully committed to strengthening technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Fiji, says Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka.

Officiating at the opening of the Pacific Polytech’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Studies Centre in Sigatoka last Friday, Mr Gavoka, who is also the Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister, said they were aware of the growing skill gaps across tourism and other key industries.

“We recognise that bridging these gaps requires a proactive, co-odinated approach,” Mr Gavoka said.

“Our support for institutions like Pacific Polytech aligns with our broader development agenda – focused on resilience, service excellence, youth empowerment and economic diversification.

“This new facility represents a step forward in that agenda, and we are proud to stand behind it as a partner.”

Mr Gavoka commended the board and management of Pacific Polytech for their leadership and vision.

“This facility reflects what can be achieved when public and private institutions work together to deliver shared outcomes.

“As a Government, we see this as a strategic investment – not just in infrastructure, but in the future of Fiji’s workforce, and the long-term success of our tourism industry.

“May this centre continue to grow in its role, impact and contribution – for Fiji, for our youth, and for the industry we are proud to call our own.”
