The The Fiji Meteorological Service has warned that an active trough of low pressure will begin affecting Fiji from the west later on Friday, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms.

In its 5:30am bulletin today, the Centre said residents in Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, as well as southern Bua and Cakaudrove should expect cloudy periods with some showers from early in the day.

Rain is expected to become more frequent and spread to most areas later on Friday.

The outlook also warns of isolated thunderstorms and heavy falls, which could cause localised flooding in low-lying areas.
