The Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union (FSSRU) is taking strong measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students following the Vodafone Deans Championship and Weet-Bix Raluve semi-finals scheduled this Saturday in Suva.
FSSRU Vice President Biu Colati confirmed that the Union will be working closely with the Fiji Police Force to monitor students both at the venues and on the roads after the games.
“We want to send a clear message to all schools, fans, and spectators that there will be a significant police presence visible on the field and throughout the town,” Colati said.
He added that police will also be actively monitoring vehicles and buses hired to transport students.
“For those hiring buses or vehicles, police will be on the roads to ensure safe and responsible travel.”
Colati delivered a strong reminder to parents and guardians, urging them to cooperate with the efforts to keep students safe.
“We are working with the Fiji Police to ensure no child is found loitering around town after the game. We will also not tolerate any underage children entering nightclubs or engaging in inappropriate activities,” he emphasized.
These measures reflect the commitment of the FSSRU and Fiji Police to promote a safe and responsible environment for young players and supporters during this highly anticipated rugby weekend.
