* Yanuya boasts a population of arund 500 people with 135 households on the island.
* Goats that only until recent years flourished on Monuriki Island were first introduced on to the island by a native of Tailevu in the 1960s. The goats, which threatened the survival of Fijian crested iguanas, have all been removed from Monuriki by hunting and effort by the Yanuya island rugby team, which rounded up 70 animals in just one day.
* Namamanuca Primary School, located towards the western end of the island, was first established in 1969 through the philanthropic efforts of a visitor that was so taken by the beauty of the island and the Mamanucas.
The school was first established as a co-educational primary school with classes from 1 – 8. The school consists mainly of the children of Yanuya and Tavua village; the remaining few come from other neighbouring villages, and children of the staff of Tokoriki and Amunuca Island Resorts.
* The people of Yanuya do most of their farming on the island of Tokoriki just a seven- minutes boat ride away, where there is an abundance of rich volcanic soil. Yanuya Village is also custodian of Tokoriki which is also home to Tokoriki Island Resort.
* There are four villages of the tikina of Malolo, namely Yanuya, Yaro, Tavua Village and Solevu. Solevu is the chiefly village of the tikina of Malolo, which lies within the province of Nadroga/Navosa.
* There are four mataqali on Yanuya, Vunativi, Namatua and Vucunisai and Vunaivi.
