Sentencing for the nine convicted in the 4.15 tonnes of methamphetamine importation case is scheduled for August 28.
Justice Aruna Aluthge announced this at the Lautoka High Court today after the mitigation submissions by the defence counsels.
The nine convicted are Justin Ho, David Heritage, Louie Logaivau, Ratu Aporosa Davelevu, Sakiusa Tuva, Jale Aukerea, Ratu Osea Levula, Cathy Tuirabe and Viliame Colowaliku.
Eight are in remand while Louie Logaivau has been exempted because of his medical condition and is on bail arrest.
The case involves the importation of an unprecedented 4.15 tonnes of methamphetamine, one of the largest drug seizures in recent history.
The nine individuals convicted were charged with various offences related to the trafficking and smuggling of the illegal narcotic.
The drug bust was a result of a coordinated investigation by law enforcement agencies, aiming to dismantle a major drug syndicate operating in the region.
The nine faced trial at the Lautoka High Court, where evidence presented established their involvement in the smuggling operation.
