Suva Zone Two primary schools’ athletics competition was a success, with a total of 10 schools from the Suva area participating.

According to Suva Zone president Mosese Turagabeci, this year’s turnout was a significant improvement from the previous year, which saw only five schools taking part.

“A total of 10 schools took part in the competition this year, it was an improvement from last year; Suva Zone Two had five schools last year, which is something great to see,” said Turagabeci.

He added the return of schools like Navesi Primary and John Wesley Primary schools after a seven-year hiatus was particularly noteworthy and added to the overall excitement of the competition.

Turagabeci expressed confidence in the abilities of the students, noting that they have a strong squad and plenty of time to train before the upcoming Tuckers National Athletics competition in term three.

“The overall analysis I believe, we have a good squad, a good bunch of students, and we have ample time to train; come nationals in term three, we should be ready for that meet.”

He also took the opportunity to thank the school heads, the Ministry of Education, and the parents for their support and encouragement throughout the event.
