Passengers on Fiji Airways’ Nadi–Vava’u, Tonga service today faced baggage delays after the airline was forced to offload all economy class checked luggage due to weight restrictions.
The airline confirmed the changes affected Flight FJ275, citing a limited fuel supply in Vava’u.
“As a precaution, we are uplifting additional fuel from Nadi to support continued operations,” Fiji Airways said in a statement.
“To maintain the required aircraft weight limits, all Economy Class checked baggage on this flight has been offloaded and will be uplifted on the next available service, subject to weight restrictions.”
The carrier apologised to passengers for the inconvenience, stressing the situation was “beyond our control” and that it was “working closely with local partners in Funafuti to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
Fiji Airways said the safety of passengers and crew “remains our highest priority.”
