THE construction of a new dedicated storeroom for essential medicines has been completed at the Nayavu Nursing Station in Tailevu, a community project by BSP Financial Group (Fiji) Pte Ltd (BSP).

The facility, one of BSP’s many community projects, will boost the nursing station’s pharmaceutical storage capacity and ensure a more consistent and reliable supply of medication for its patients.

“We are confident that enhancing the pharmaceutical storage capacity at this rural health facility will ensure the timely delivery and consistent supply of essential medicines to patients,” BSP country head Haroon Ali said.

“This directly supports the Ministry of Health’s efforts to advance equitable healthcare and strengthens our shared commitment to the wellbeing of the communities we serve.”

The project – deemed necessary and urgent given the growing population served by the facility, which now exceeds 4000 residents – involved the construction of a dedicated storeroom along with internal renovations to shelving and cabinet storage.

BSP staff and their families also volunteered their time and effort on-site, working alongside contractors to bring the project to life.

Nayavu Nursing Station’s medical officer-in-charge Dr Harieta Atalifo acknowledged BSP’s support and reaffirmed its real impact on patient care.

“Having a dedicated, secure space to store our medicines means we’re better equipped to respond to the needs of our patients.

“It gives us confidence that we can maintain supply and deliver care without delays which is incredibly important in a rural setting like ours,” Dr Atalifo said.

BSP joins the ranks of a broad spectrum of companies in Fiji involved in community-based projects as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

BSP’s CSR program invests in health, education and environmental impact initiatives across Fiji.

“Each initiative is developed in close consultation with local leaders and service providers to ensure they address real needs and deliver long-lasting benefits,” BSP stated.
