A GROUP of volunteers cleaned up the Suva foreshore recently to help “keep the world a clean place that God created”.
Seven in the group from the World Mission Society Church of God were from South Korea.
They said their mission went beyond cleaning and was about protecting the world they believe was created by God.
Volunteer Daniel Lockington said the clean-up campaign was part of a global effort that had now reached its 8830th event worldwide — and the fifth in Fiji.
“We know and have learnt that Fiji is one of the Pacific Island countries that is currently in danger of rising sea level, so we do volunteer work to raise environmental awareness.”
Mr Lockington said the event was deeply meaningful.
“We want to keep the world a clean place.”
Mr Lockington added the church’s movement spanned 175 countries and began in 1964.
