Arieta Veikoso, daughter of the late Ratu George Veikoso spoke about the pain her father was in while delivering an eulogy this morning at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

Her tribute painted a picture of a man who, despite immense personal suffering, continued to uplift others through his music and spirit.

“Today, I didn’t prepare anything to speak, but I’m just going to talk to him,” she said.

She spoke of Ratu Georges’ dream of unity.

“I know he’d be so proud to see everybody coming together. This was his only dream that he ever wanted, was for everyone to be as one.”

“He was in so much pain for so long.”

“We just want to let him know that we love him and that wherever he is, we hope that he’s okay, and he found peace finally.”

“On behalf of the kids, we just want to rise you up and tell Uncle Willie and all of the ones that we’ve lost, my grandpa and everybody that we love so dearly, and just watch over us and have our angels guide us in ways that we know that it’s them.”
