After two days of inclusive sporting action, the Central Eastern Council of Special & Inclusive Education (CECOSIE) Games ended at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.
More than 750 students from 10 participating schools walked away with trophies commemorating their participation at the games and others won for various sports played.
The games, now in its second year since its revival last year from a hiatus taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, had attracted a large number of students with special needs.
Sporting activities participated in included netball, sitting volleyball, standing volleyball, boccia, soccer, table tennis and goal ball.
Participating schools at the event included the Fiji School of the Blind, Nausori Special Education School, Nausori Special School, Arya Samaj Primary School, Ratu Latianara Primary School, Hilton Special School, Suva Special School, Gospel School for the Deaf, Hilton Early Intervention Centre and the Norah Frazer School for Special Education, Fiji Vocational Technical Training Centre for Persons with Disabilities (FVTTC).
Winners: Best Discipline Team – Hilton Special School, Best Dressed Team – Suva Special School.
Netball: Junior – Runner-up: Gospel School for the Deaf, Winner: Suva Special School. Senior – Runner-up: Norah Frazer School for Special Education.
Sitting Volleyball: Junior – Runner-up: Nausori Special School. Winner – Ratu Latianara Primary School. Senior – Runner-up: Fiji Vocational Technical Training Centre for Persons with Disabilities, Winner – Gospel School for the Deaf.
Standing Volleyball: Junior – Runner-up: Gospel School for the Deaf, Winner: Ratu Latianara Primary School. Senior – Runner-up: Gospel School for the Deaf. Winner: Arya Samaj Primary School.
Boccia: Runner-up: FVTTC. Winner: Nausori Special School.
Soccer: Junior – Runner-up: Nausori Special School, Winner: Arya Samaj Primary School. Senior: Runner-up: FVTTC 2, Winner: FVTTC 1.
